Is it hard to imagine confidently developing a career, relationships, and overall independence?
The challenges for older teens and young adults are greater than ever.
At this stage you are often expected to make decisions you feel unready to make. You are also forced to focus on the future. Both of these demands can generate anxiety and decreased confidence. Further, you have some expectation to be independent, but often rely on your parents in a variety of ways, giving you a feeling of being stuck between childhood and adulthood.
Is the thought of adulting making you feel stressed and causing you to avoid the things you need to do?
Are you unsure what you are looking for in a college, major, career or relationship, but feeling the pressure to have the answers?
Do you feel like an imposter as you begin your young adulthood?
Developing healthy coping and interpersonal skills now can put you on the right track for your lifetime.
Therapy at this stage of your life can help you…
Approach, rather than avoid the tasks necessary for success
Understand and break unhealthy patterns before they have long term impact
Make choices to put you on the right track for your career and relationships

If you are over 18, the degree to which your parents are involved in your treatment is entirely up to you. Often parents are an excellent resource for information and support, and can enhance treatment with their contributions-especially early in the process. Further, some young adults wish to address issues regarding the relationship with their parents and include them at times to do so. Regardless of the degree to which your parents are involved, no information will be released to them without your permission. Learn more

For teens under 18, one or both parents will join you to begin the first visit. At that time we will go over confidentiality in more detail and make sure everyone has a clear understanding of the limits. Generally, we will operate under the agreement that I will not share information without your permission. Parents will participate in a session during the evaluation phase for the purpose of gathering information, and they will be given feedback, approved by you, at the conclusion. Going forward, the degree of parent participation varies depending on the issues and needs of the client-but like all aspects of your therapy, you will have some say in this determination. Learn more
